On April 3rd, 2011 it seemed like any other normal Sunday. Rob and I went to church, taught our Sunday school class, and got our side dish ready to go the Poulsen's for dinner. Dinner started and we did the usual, ate our meal and supported Rob as he did the dishes. Kenzie invited her friend Melanie to dinner and she announced she was 10 weeks pregnant. I am not too certain how the conversation turned, but I made a comment that I was getting hot all of the sudden. Melanie then said that happens when you get pregnant. Of course Kenzie jumped right in to assume I must be pregnant and proposed the whole family should go together to get a pregnancy test just to make sure. Though I knew she was joking and I was laughing out loud, it put a thought in my head. I had been feeling cramps the past few days, but nothing serious. It was getting late so Rob and I headed home. We arrived back to the apartment, Rob started preparing for the next week and was doing laundry as I diddle-daddled in the bathroom. My thoughts were racing, "Could we really have gotten pregnant," I mean it was quite random if we were. Curiosity was killing me, so I found one last pregnancy test in the cupboard. It wasn't too much longer that one blue line showed up and then its buddy, line number two, showed up! If you know me, you know my reaction..."ROB!!! COME HERE! COME HERE! TWO LINES! TWO LINES, ROB!!!" Rob came rushing in and calmly read the directions to double check. I can't remember much of what he had said but his big eyes told it all. I told Rob, "We have to go to Wal-Mart tonight and get a different pregnancy test brand." He said he needed to finish some things real quick, then we could leave. "Besides", he said, "your bladder is empty." He suggested getting a Coke out of the fridge until he was done. I agreed, but it sure didn't last long as I paced back and forth in the bedroom saying, "Oh my, I'm pregnant...pregnant...preg...Rob we need to go, now!" He grabbed the keys and we were off to the store (yes we broke the Sabbath, sorry). Got to Wal-Mart, grabbed another test, self-checked out and headed home. I ran into the bathroom, this time Rob was there to supervise (he's good at making sure things are done step by step). After the procedure was finished, both of us stared at the test waiting for the results. This time we saw one pink line. Rob looked at me and said,"Well maybe the first one was wrong?" Then as soon as he was about to say sorry, another pink line appeared. Now we had 2 blue lines and 2 pink lines! Rob and I were so surprised! No doubt we wanted to keep our "low expectations" motto even with our baby planning, we just never thought it would be so out of the blue... or pink.
Our official due date is December 6, 2011. We are currently 9 weeks along and even more excited now then when we found out. We couldn't be happier and already love our little pea more and more each day.
